Day One in BANGKOK - SIAM OCEAN WORLD !!!
We were very excited for our Bangkok trip, from may to oct we were only planning where to go, how to go and how many days to spend in each city. Since it was our first international trip and we were amateurs in planning we looked for the cheapest ticket from Mumbai to Bangkok and we got one from Mumbai to Bangkok via Kolkata. The journey was amazing (not the long hours of waiting at Mumbai and Kolkata) because when we boarded the flight from Kolkata, it was a group of people from central part of India travelling to Pattaya (for obvious reasons !!!) they were all singing songs and sharing jokes across the plane, for a moment we thought we are travelling in a train.
Suggestion: Please take a direct flight, stopovers are a task, because some airports you need to collect your luggage and check-in again.
We reached Bangkok and it was visa-on-arrival and a few moments here and there, a form to fill up (please carry a passport photo), a thousand bath (Thailand's currency) to display to the officer, the hotel bookings to show and we were done with the formalities.
Our first Stop: SIAM OCEAN WORLD: This is a huge aquarium built under a mall. It has more than 100K square feet of fishes, turtles, crabs, sharks, stingrays and penguins to name a few. The experience is amazing. We got to see amazing fishes which are there in the ocean, they are so many fishes that we may never come across in books or movies but you get to see them live there. The visitors have few activities which is recommend everyone to do, a) Learn about how the aquarium runs: This is an amazing 10-15 min knowledge session by the team there, they tell us about how they take care of the fishes, the art of cleaning water, the way they maintain the same water style, texture and salt content as the fishes find in the ocean so that they can live comfortably. The doctors checking on fishes regularly, their mating seasons etc. b) Feed the shark: Here we are made to sit on a boat and the sailor will drive us through the shark aquarium. Every person is then given a stick from where he will pick a fish from the bucket and lower the stick in the water, the sharks will see their food and eat the fish from the stick. Its scary because we don't know what pressure or force will the shark come with to eat the bait. c) Penguin interaction: Penguins are so intelligent that they will clap, run, swim and do all kinds of antics in-front of the audience. (do not miss this) d) feel the fishes: There was an experience center where you can feel the fishes with your hand, you can touch them, pick them and feel the small little creatures of this beautiful planet. e) Movie about fishes: Short cartoon movie about the fishes and their journey.
This was a wonderful experience, people of all age must go and visit there. We get to see and witness amazing fishes and deep-sea creatures.
